6:00 am
Scared, alone, but befriended by my pal, we contemplate the meaning of life. I understand now, from his teachings... that the universe is made of a strange substance called glass. This amazes me.

7:00 am
A ripple in the water wakes me from my open-eyed sleeping state. Alas, it is pal. He brings news of an air bubble across town. We head to check it out. Upon returning we discover that it was just a scare, nothing.

8:17 am
Brightness has flashed on. Who could it be I see? Does the gravel grow as I do?

9:00 am
I am surrounded by large green spiky objects, which serve absolutely no purpose. Each night I wish that they would just leave me alone.

10:00 am
Worms, worms, worms. They don't seem to understand that I hate them. They don't comprehend when I talk to them, they are unintelligent and weird looking.

12:00 pm
My skin is peeling again. The wriggling procedure is hard but I am qualified. I eat my skin when I am finished and I enjoy it.

2:00 pm
These bubbles from the other side of the world drive me insane. Shut up! Shut up! Shut up.

GOB JELLY
Saturday, February 11, 2006

last night kristin and i went to surrey with my sister for dinner with my sister's boyfriend, tim's parents and my parents...

afterwards, headed over to tim's old house in panorama ridge, a fancy development near the surrey delta border and ended up spending a few hours with a couple members, theo and tom, of gob who are living there now. we played old school atari for awhile, ate some lychee jellies, and listened to a new song they're working on in the upstairs in-house studio...shya!

and i even got a gob pencil!

Nymph, nymph, what are your beads?
Green glass, goblin. Why do you stare at them?

Give them me.

No.

Give them me, give them me.

No.

Then I will howl all night in the reeds
Lie in the mud and howl for them.

Goblin, why do you love them so?

They are better than stars or water
Better than voices of winds that sing,
Better than any man's fair daughter,
Your green glass beads on a silver ring.

Hush, I stole them out of the moon.

Give me your beads, I want them.

No.

I will howl in a deep lagoon
For your green glass beads, I love them so.
Give them me. Give them.

No.

i cooked a thai feast last night. i had been itchin' to get something like this going since my cooking course in chiang mai...well, i guess it was over a year now. i spent the afternoon at granville island collecting the ingredients: cocunut cream, cilantro, holy thai basil, garlic, tomatoes, lemongrass, chives, kaffir lime leaves, lemons, fish sauce, palm sugar and palm oil, vanilla bean, eggs, papaya and mango, fresh shrimp and scallops and chicken...and mixed it all up...voila:

Kaffir Limes and Leaves

Holy Thai Basil

Fresh Lemongrass

Papaya (i call it the 'puke fruit')

Mango

i made TOM YAM KOUNG Spicy and Sour Lemongrass Soup with Scallops, KOUNG GRATIEM PRIK THAI Fried Shrimp with Garlic and Pepper, KEANG PHET KAI Red Curry Chicken with Bamboo Shoots and for desert SANG KAI YAA SOM Baked Papaya with Coconut Cream Custard...

it was damn good, i made a lot of dishes...
