Almost every weekend was awash with liquor during my time in Korea. Basically, drowning my sorrows from the long, hard days of work. At least once a month, there was some sort of party going on, somone going away, a birthday or holiday. Not to mention the amount of cheap liquor readily available at any local Family Mart. From Hite, Cass and OB, the local brews; to soju, the national liquor; maekkeolli and dondongju, fermented rice wines, japanese sake and plum liquor. Koreans love their drinking culture. From the carefully followed rules of drinking etiquette: always pour away from you using two hands, never pour your own drink, never stop drinking before your host and girls, never drink more than your man; to the fact that almost every street corner contains a watering hole or hof, as they're called here, it was easy to get smashed in Korea.
